Monday Morning Sports For February 15th

In the “Q”, a season high crowd of over 5 thousand turning out as the Sea Dogs edge Chicoutimi 6-5 in overtime. The Sea Dogs got a goal in the final seconds of regulation time to tie the game and Mathieu Joseph got the overtime winner.

In the NHL, Detroit outlasted Boston 6-5……Both teams blew two goal leads before Danny DeKeyser’s winner came from a shot from the point that deflected past goalie Jonas Gustavsson at 7:37 of the third period……The Rangers got by Philadelphia 3-1….. Keith Kinkaid recorded his first shutout in New Jersey’s 1-0 win over Los Angeles……Buffalo downed Colorado 4-1 and St. Louis edged Tampa Bay 2-1.

The NBA All-Star game in Toronto saw a record number of points scored as the West defeated the East 196-173. Russell Westbrook of Oklahoma City scored 31 points and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. Paul George of Indiana scored 41 points for the East.

Saint John High won the high school “AAA” basketball championship over the weekend, 64-59 over Fredericton High. The Greyhounds rallied in the last two minutes of the game to snatch the title.
