In the NFL playoffs, Indianapolis advances to the A-F-C championship against New England after defeating Denver 24-13 amid speculation about whether Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will be back next season…….Green Bay came from behind for a 26-21 win over Dallas with controversy over whether Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant made a catch on the Packer one yard line in the 4th quarter. Green Bay is in Seattle for the N-F-C championship.

ESPN is reporting former Jets head coach Rex Ryan is ready to sign a five year deal with the Buffalo Bills who have not made the playoffs in 15 years.

In the NHL, Chicago beat slumping Minnesota 4-1……Florida won its third in a row, 4-2 over Edmonton……Anaheim retired Teemu Selanne’s number 8 jersey and edged Winnipeg in a shootout 5-4.

In the Maritime Hockey League, it was Truro over St. Stephen 5-3.

In Women’s Midget “AAA” hockey, the Fundy Nationals over the Northern Stars 4-2.

In basketball, the Mill Rats rebounded in a big way in front of a record crowd at Harbour Station of more than 86 hundred, 122-109, over the London Lightning despite being without the services of League MVP Anthony Anderson. Newly acquired guard Darin Mency scored 28 points.

At the Riverboat Classic, Kennebecasis Valley High won the boys title, 82-68 over Horton High….Fredericton High captured the girls championship, 68-51 over Sussex Regional High.

Hampton dart player Jeff Smith lost in the semi-finals of the British Dart Organization’s World Championship in England.
