Monday Morning Sports For June 20th

The Cleveland Cavaliers won their first NBA championship, 93-89 over the Golden State Warriors….. LeBron James kept the Cavs alive with a late block with under two minutes left and Kyrie Irving hit a 3 pointer with 53 seconds left which was the winning basket……James finished with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and three blocked shots. He was named the MVP. The Cavaliers came back from a 3 games to 1 deficit and they are the first Cleveland sports team to win a title in 52 years.

In the Majors, in another slugfest, Matt Wieters had four hits and drove in four runs as Baltimore outscored the Toronto Blue Jays 11-6……The Boston Red Sox kept pace with the Orioles, winning 2-1 over Seattle behind David Price. David Ortiz even stole a base and got a standing ovation….The Yankees lost to Minnesota 7-4……Last night, the Chicago Cubs swept Pittsburgh 10-5 as rookie Wilson Conteras homered on the very first pitch of his very first time at bat. Elsewhere, it was San Francisco 5 Tampa Bay 1….Cleveland 3 Chicago White Sox 2 (10 innings)……Atlanta 6 NY Mets 0…..Miami 3 Colorado 0….AZrizona 5 Philadelphia 1….Houston 6 Cincinnati 0….Texas 5 St. Louis 4…..Kansas City 2 Detroit 1 (13 innings)…..Los Angeles Angels 2 Oakland 0….Los Angeles Dodgers 2 Milwaukee 1 and San Diego 6 Washington 3.
