Moosehead Breweries will be opening a new small-batch brewery, ideally in the uptown area.
President and CEO Andrew Oland says it’s a celebration of the 150th anniversary of Moosehead Breweries coming up next year.
Oland says it will be a fully functioning brewery with a retail store that will sell beer and merchandise, and it will also include a tap room and a full tourist experience.
He says one of the reasons the announcement was made today was to make sure all of the best available real estate options are presented.
Meantime, a leaked document from NB Liquor in 2013 suggests Moosehead Breweries received special treatment over other competitors in the province at a cost to consumers.
Oland concedes Moosehead receives a very small price differential vs larger multinational competitors , but that’s consistent with most provinces in Canada where smaller breweries are given more of an advantage.
