A new 21-unit apartment building in Hampton will provide affordable apartments for seniors in the town.
Families, Children and Social Development Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announced $2.98 million for the DeMille Place project on Tuesday.
“We are proud partners of this project because we need to understand how important it is for our seniors to live close to their community, close to their families and friends,” said Duclos.
Duclos made the announcement alongside Fundy Royal MP Alaina Lockhart.

Lockhart said she considers days like this to be more of a celebration than an announcement.
“The reason I saw that is because it truly is a celebration of the extraordinary work that community members have done,” Lockhart said.
“In this case, their recognition of the need for more independent living options here in Hampton was at the heart of the project.”
Lockhart says the project, which has been in the making for nearly three years, will improve the lives of many people in Hampton.
DeMille Place will have eight affordable units and 13 market units. Five of the apartments will be fully accessible.
The new apartment building will be located on Kennebecasis River Road — across from St. Paul’s Church — and should be ready sometime in 2020.
