More Details Released On Standoff

City Police have elaborated on what happened during that standoff on St. James Street when they tried to make arrests for a robbery that happened on January 2nd.

Sergeant Chuck Breen says the people inside barricaded the apartment in the south end and used bear spray to keep police away. That’s when the tactical unit was brought in.

Four people who were inside the apartment did come out voluntarily but police had to go inside to arrest two men, aged 30 and 45, for the robbery.

Police also report that earlier, a 34 year old man was arrested for drug trafficking after his vehicle was stopped along the highway by the Saint John Region Integrated Street Crime Unit.

Police say they seized an estimated $3 thousand dollars worth of cocaine.
