More Names Being Thrown Into Municipal Election For St. Stephen

Two more names are being thrown into the race for the municipal election coming up this Spring.

St. Stephen’s Deputy Mayor is going for the main title, Allan MacEachern telling us he will be running for Mayor. “I haven’t been thinking about putting in for Mayor, I was thinking about putting in for Council. But after Abby (Pond) put her name in the hat, it started up things in the town.”

MacEachern says people started asking him to run, and as much as he likes the work fellow candidate Abby Pond has done on Council, he feels the Town should have a choice in who becomes Mayor.

He says if he becomes Mayor, he looks forward to being very vocal about issues in the Town, and says he will sing if he has to.

To another candidate, third time’s a charm, maybe the 4th? Patrick Cummins throwing his name into the municipal elections once again for a spot on St. Stephen Town Council.

He tells us, he has previously run twice for Councillor, and once for Mayor, all unsuccessfully, and jokes he has the record for least amount of votes.

He admits his views can be extreme, however, he believes you need to go to extremes to get change, which is what he wants for St. Stephen.

Cummins is originally from the UK, and retired to St. Stephen in 2002, after a career in project and production management in military facilities, as well as patient care and farm implements.

The municipal election is May 9th.
