N.B. Educator Among Order Of Canada Appointees

A hockey star and an astronaut are among 99 new appointments to the Order of Canada.

Nova Scotia’s Sidney Crosby is receiving the honour for being “one of the greatest hockey players of all time” and supporting youth initiatives in the community.

Colleen Jones has been recognized for being a Canadian curling legend, a reporter and broadcaster for CBC.

Astronaut David Saint-Jacques is being honoured for his contributions to science, technology, and health care.

And Eugene Levy gets a promotion within the order for being an acclaimed Canadian actor and producer.

Locally, speaker and award-winning educator Armand Doucet of Moncton is being recognized “for a career that has valued primary and secondary education.”

Appointees will be invited to an investiture ceremony at a later date to receive their insignia. You can view the full list by clicking here.

The Order of Canada is one of our country’s highest honours, recognizing people across all sectors of society who have made extraordinary and sustained contributions to our nation.
