A nine-year-old from New Brunswick is this year’s Children’s Miracle Network Champion for the IWK.
Norah Matchett was honoured at the Fredericton North Walmart, Wednesday.
The program brings together children who represent hospital foundations across Canada and the United States.
Norah was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, which happens when a baby’s lip or mouth is not formed properly.
She has had multiple surgeries at the IWK with continuing challenges with her hearing and speech.
The IWK says, thanks to their care she is “positive” and “resilient” and will now, as Champion, share her stories of receiving specialized care to support fundraising campaigns and events in the Maritimes.
Director of Development at the IWK Foundation, Melanie Matheson says, Norah and her family are “passionate about sharing their story to raise awareness and encourage others to the support the IWK.”
They will travel to Orlando, Florida for Children’s Hospitals Week alongside others from across North America who have gone through similar experiences.
