Two Maritime premiers are doing well when it comes to their approval ratings, according to a new survey.
New Brunswick’s Susan Holt and Nova Scotia’s Tim Houston are tied for second at 58 per cent.
Angus Reid said that it is a slight drop from their last survey conducted three months ago.
Holt has been kept in most residents’ good books by following through on a rent cap and a property assessment freeze, said the survey.
“Critics have pointed to the lack of progress on the repeal of the carbon adjustor, a fluctuating fee which passes the cost of federal environment regulations onto consumers,” it said.
Houston, meanwhile, has led the way in dismantling inter-provincial trade barriers and signed deals with five other provinces.
“Nova Scotia stands to benefit from this free trade focus, as half of the province’s exports are inter-provincial,” said Angus Reid.
Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew continues to lead the approval ratings at 68 per cent, up three points from three months ago.
Quebec Premier François Legault is at the bottom with a 25 per cent approval rating, followed by Ontario’s Doug Ford at 10 per cent. Both premiers saw double-digit drops.
