N.B. To Unveil 2022-23 Budget Today

We are just hours away from learning what will be in New Brunswick’s latest provincial budget.

Finance Minister Ernie Steeves is set to deliver the budget speech in the legislature at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

While the details remain under wraps, we do know the theme for this year’s budget is “Build on Success.”

Steeves took his traditional shoe photo on Monday at an apartment building under construction in downtown Fredericton.

Premier Blaine Higgs previously told our newsroom that his government would be unveiling a “very healthy” budget for 2022-23.

It comes as the province projects a $487-million surplus for the current fiscal year. That is compared to the $244-million deficit it had been forecasting.

Interim Opposition leader Roger Melanson has said the province needs to invest in health care, and put more money into affordable housing and rent control.

Our newsroom will have coverage of the provincial budget online and on-air.
