The Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick is hosting its 36th annual summit later this month.
The two day meeting will cover several topics including the NB Liquor Act, and the labour shortage.
President and CEO for the TIANB Carol Alderdice says the summit is an important way of raising awareness to the industry, “I don’t feel that tourism gets the respect it deserves. We are the third largest economic grower in the province. Tourism is so important to New Brunswick.”
One of the main speakers will also talk about AirBNB’s and how they affect the hotel business in New Brunswick, “We do need places for people to stay, but on the Operator end, it really does affect the hotel business, the accommodation business,” Alderdice says.
Alderdice says one day of the summit this year will be dedicated to government presentations featuring issues that affect the tourism industry.
“They’ll be going over their refocused tourism strategy, because the cuts did affect their original strategy and some of the campaigns that they do as well,” Alderdice says.
The Summit will be held on November 27th and 28th at the Crowne Plaza in Moncton.
