Health authority warns ‘powerful’ opioid found in N.S. for 1st time ever

A novel opioid was found in the province for the first time, according to Nova Scotia Health.

N-Pyrrolidino Metonitazene was detected in the Amherst area and is described as a brownish rock with a powder and grainy texture.

The sample contained a mix of fentanyl, cocaine, xylazine, caffeine and a tranquilizer.

Nova Scotia Health says it is two times more powerful than fentanyl.

What makes it more dangerous, the health authority says, is the fact it cannot be detected with fentanyl strips.

In addition to that even a small amount can be fatal.

Nova Scotia Health says do not use drugs alone, have naloxone ready and be prepared to call 911.
