The Nature Trust of New Brunswick is holding a celebration this Thanksgiving weekend on Deer Island.
Walter Emrich of the Nature Trust says they’re marking the expansion of the nature preserve with the addition of 5 acres on the eastern side of the island comprising the northern and southern headlands around Chocolate Cove.
Emrich believes it has been left untouched for a hundred years but there will be a guided autumn nature walk on Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30 in the afternoon.
He believes the expansion of the nature preserve will allow for greater public access to the coastline.
