The New Brunswick Building Trades hosted an event earlier today to give supporters of Energy East an opportunity to sign a portion of the pipeline.
President Gary Ritchie says it’s a way of showing how much support is out there for the project.
Ritchie says one of the main concerns surrounding the pipeline is safety and adds one message behind the event is to ensure safety is a main priority behind the project.
Rob Kinsey with the Plumbers and Pipefitters of Canada says the economic spin offs will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs in New Brunswick.
Patrick Campbell with the International Union of Operating Engineers says the project will bring a lot of people home to the East Coast of Canada.
The pipeline will head to Fredericton tomorrow to allow more supporters to sign it, and then it will make its way to Quebec.
