NB Company Begins Power Restoration Efforts In Florida

Forty-nine crew members from a Woodstock power company who headed to the United States last week in advance of Hurricane Irma, are now being put to work.

The crews from K-Line Construction started in Orlando while they waited for the storm to pass, but now they are in St. Petersburg and are now seeing a lot of the destruction caused by Irma.

Manager Courtney Keenan says today is their first day of restoration efforts, “What they are seeing down there is a lot of the sub stations are still underwater, so they will move out away from that a little further, and begin their cleanup and restoration. As soon as the water levels recede, they will go back. It is going to be a lot of heavy and intense labour. They are going to be doing a lot of lugging of the debris.”

Keenan says expects they will be there anywhere from two weeks to a month.

He adds the greatest satisfaction comes at the end of the job, when grateful residents thank them for the work they’ve done to help get the power back on.
