New Brunswick Day has been celebrated each year in the province on the first Monday of August since 1976.
An official host community has been chosen every year since 1990 and this year that honour goes to Edmundston.
Premier Brian Gallant says the celebrations province-wide are expected to be even bigger.
“As one of the four founding provinces of the country, Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation is a great way for us to ensure that communities across the province are able to participate in the celebrations, ” he notes.
To mark Canada 150, four other communities, Grand Bay-Westfield, Florenceville-Bristol, Miramichi and Dorchester, each hosted a celebration on a Saturday in July leading up to New Brunswick Day.
