Fifteen million dollars is being invested this year by the provincial government. for its 10 year education plan and $4.5 million more will earmarked for literacy initiatives.
That money will be used to hire 130 additional teachers and other professionals, including literacy and numeracy leads, diversity and respect specialists and guidance counsellors.
Literacy dollars will be used for purchasing additional learning literacy tools and for professional development to inspire and instruct young readers.
