NB Power fined by nuclear safety commission

NB Power has been fined nearly $25,000 by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.

The fine is the result of safety violations at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station.

Staff are required to have a 72-hour recovery period after three or more consecutive night shifts.

However, inspections conducted by the commision found this was not always being followed.

In addition, the commission also noted that corrective actions taken by the utility have so far been ineffective.
