NB Power Looking To Raise Rates

NB Power wants to raise its rates next year and a hearing on its application will likely be held in February before the Energy and Utilities Board.

It claims the average rate increase would amount to 2 per cent. That, the argument goes, would translate into an additional $4 a month for the average household in New Brunswick.

The application also includes a proposal to develop an Advanced Metering Infrastructure. NB Power says this would enable the utility to respond to outages faster because it wouldn’t have to depend on customers reporting when they lose their electricity.
