NB Power On Restoration Of Electricity

From a high of over 131 thousand homes and businesses without power in the aftermath of the ice storm this week, NB Power is reporting the number of customers still without electricity is down to 89 thousand as of early this morning.

More than 200 NB Power crews augmented by help from outside the province are still dealing with almost 19 hundred outages.

NB Power expects to have electricity restored to 99 per cent of those still without in the Saint John area on the Kingston Peninsula, St. Stephen and Fredericton by the end of tonight as well as 80 per cent of customers in Sussex and Moncton. As of early this morning, there were still more than 21 thousand homes and businesses without electricity in the Moncton area.

NB Power President and C-E-O Gaeten Thomas says if you see a line that’s, assume it is alive.

This is the second largest power outage in the history of the province.
