December may have been the warmest month on record, but January so far has made up for that.
We’ve seen windchills of almost minus 30 this week, and that has forced us to turn up the heat.
As a result, power bills rise. That’s a tough reality for those going through rough financial times.
Spokesperson for NB Power Meghan Gerrish says it’s vital that customers contact them if they can’t keep up with payments.
She says, “Disconnection is an absolute last resort when all other avenues have been exhausted. We take a lot of care with our customers and go through a lot of assurances, especially in the winter months, to avoid disconnection.”
Gerrish says they’ll work with their customers to make payment arrangements, because all circumstances are different, and they know everyone experiences tough times.
