New 3-year deal awarded to CN conductors/train engineers

An arbitrator is providing CN conductors, conductor trainees, yard coordinators and locomotive engineers with a new three-year contract.

Under the ruling, wages will increase by 3% each year, dating back to January 2024.

CN and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference were forced to arbitration last August after the federal government ended a one-day lockout.

In a letter to its members, the Teamsters union states that due to CN’s reluctance to negotiate, the arbitrator determined most issues could
not be resolved and dismissed them.

The letter states, “While this is not the preferred outcome for the TCRC, it must be understood that the award does not contain any of the significant concessions.”

In a release, CN states it is disappointed a negotiated agreement was not reached at the bargaining table but pleased to be moving forward.
