New agreement for 55 Quispamsis municipal workers

More than 50 municipal employees in Quispamsis have a new collective agreement.

Council held a special meeting on Thursday to ratify an agreement with CUPE Local 3226.

The five-year agreement, which extends through the end of 2027, includes a 16.75 per cent wag increase.

“We are very happy with this agreement,” Quispamsis Mayor Libby O’Hara said in a statement.

“I want to commend the negotiating teams for working hard to reach a deal which is good for the Town and our valuable unionized staff.”

The union represents 55 employees in the town’s parks, works and utilities departments, along with arenas and pool staff.

CUPE members approved the agreement in the days leading up to Thursday’s meeting, according to a town spokesperson.
