New Brunswick Faces Serious Labour Shortage In Years Ahead

Times will have to change in New Brunswick in the years ahead if the province is to avoid a labour shortage.

Dan Mills says it’s expected because of retirements, 110 thousand people will be leaving the New Brunswick workforce over the next ten years.

Mills says something like 75 hundred young people graduate from high school each year in New Brunswick but from 10 to 11 thousand people will be leaving the workforce yearly so the numbers don’t add up.

He predicts the workforce will become more diverse and attracting more immigrants will help alleviate any labour shortages.
