New Brunswick pushes pipeline, port expansions in Ottawa meetings

New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt and five cabinet ministers wrapped up a mission to Ottawa this week aimed at advancing the province’s national priorities.

The delegation met with federal ministers, MPs, senators, and business leaders to discuss what Holt called “nation-building projects.” Those include the Quebec–New Brunswick pipeline, the Sisson mine, and expansions at the ports of Saint John and Belledune.

“Our message was clear: New Brunswick is ready to deliver projects that create jobs, strengthen energy security and expand Canada’s trade capacity,” Holt said. “We were pleased to see strong awareness of our priorities in Ottawa and real interest in partnering with us to move these projects forward.”

Holt also addressed the Canada 2020 conference, where she emphasized New Brunswick’s role in the clean energy transition and its position as Canada’s Atlantic gateway to global markets.

Meetings were held with ministers responsible for internal trade, energy, finance, housing, immigration, veterans affairs, and other key portfolios.

The mission concluded with a reception that brought together parliamentarians, business leaders, and stakeholders from across Atlantic Canada to strengthen collaboration on shared goals.
