Homeowners Asked To Prepare For Heavy Rain

The province urging New Brunswickers to get ready for a whole lot of rain and gusty winds.

With 100 milimetres of rain possible by Wednesday, flooding is possible for low-lying areas.

People are encouraged to protect their properties by monitoring local forecasts, clearing out gutters and catch basins.

“A rainfall of 100 mm or more can overwhelm storm drains. Now is the time to make sure water will not pool around your home and foundation,” said Greg MacCallum, director of the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization. “People need to be prepared to sustain themselves and their families for a minimum of 72 hours.”

If you need to drive in the heavy rain, slow down and drive to match the conditions.
