New Conservative Leader Confident His Message Will Resonate In New Brunswick

The new leader of the federal Conservative party, Andrew Scheer says he has two years to put together a plan to challenge the Liberals under Prime Minister Trudeau. Scheer, who’s known as a social conservative, is optimistic about his chances.

He claims when you talk to Canadians about individual issues, they turn out to be pretty conservative in their views. Scheer has a reputation of being a social conservative.

Scheer, who comes from Saskatchewan, also says he’ll defend the right of provinces not to impose a carbon tax. He maintains the carbon tax is a cash grab and will do nothing to reduce emissions.

Scheer argues when they were in power, the Conservatives had a good record on the environment. It was the Harper Government that funded harbour cleanup in Saint John.
