New COVID Case At Shannex Parkland Saint John

One new case of COVID-19 has been identified at Shannex Parkland Saint John involving an employee, the company announced Wednesday.

The person was working in what is known as the cohorting area, where residents who test positive for the virus are cared for by team members dedicated to that area.

The positive result came from retesting of Tucker Hall residents and employees on Tuesday. No new resident cases were identified, said Shannex.

There have been 20 confirmed cases at Parkland Saint John to date: 11 residents, eight employees, and one non-Shannex employee.

Shannex says nine of the 10 residents being cared for in the cohorting area are now considered recovered, along with six of the eight Shannex employees.

One resident of the cohorting area died on Sunday but health officials say their death was not related to COVID-19.

All residents and employees of Simms Court are being retested on Thursday.
