New Deputy Police Chief Sworn In

Saint John’s new deputy police chief was officially sworn in on Monday.

Honey Dwyer is the highest-ranking female police officer in the force’s history.

Chief Robert Bruce says Dwyer brings extensive policing experience and a wealth of knowledge to her new role.

“I know she is looking forward to serving our community with enthusiasm, pride, and integrity,” Bruce said in a news release.

Dwyer recently served as commander in charge of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Central District.

She held roles in Indigenous policing, community policing, and detachment commander before that.

Dwyer also served in the operational strategy branch, training branch, national security, drugs and frontline policing.

Former deputy chief Tony Hayes retired back in April after more than three decades with the force.
