New Face Covering Rules For Flight Crew, Airport Workers

Some flight crew and airport workers will now be required to wear face coverings while at work.

Transport Minister Marc Garneau says the new rules take effect on Thursday afternoon.

It applies to some flight crew, gate agents, screening officers and other airport workers.

Pilots will be exempt from the new rules when they are on the flight deck due to safety concerns identified by the industry.

Airline passengers have been required to wear face coverings since April.
