A made-in-Maritime TV mystery is premiering this month. The Slack was shot in St. Martins, Hampton, and Smithtown – with some familiar faces!
The gripping new mystery series was created, co-written and co-directed by Vanessa King. The Slack unfolds over five episodes, each offering a slow-burn journey that moves between past and present.
Starring Leni Parker, Wes Williams (also known as Maestro Fresh Wes), Clem McIntosh, and Ryan Griffith, the series centers on Mae, a Natural Resources Protection Officer from a small coastal town. After suffering a head injury, Mae is left with fractured memories—and a rising urgency to uncover the truth behind a fisherman’s mysterious disappearance.
But as Mae pulls at the loose threads of the case, she finds herself caught in a deeper tide of secrets—ones tangled in her own past. Each episode draws viewers further into the swirling uncertainty of her memories, the rugged coastal landscape, and the unsettling sense that the truth is slipping just out of reach.
Meet the cast

LENI PARKER as Mae
Mae is a woman fighting to untangle a mystery and her own mind. A Natural Resource Protection Officer with a strong sense of duty and an investigative mind, she’s living with the aftershocks of a brain injury and a fractured memory.

CLEM MCINTOSH as Gillis
Gillis is the kind of man people lower their voice to mention: a shady fisherman under investigation by Natural Resource Protection Officers. On the surface, he’s a stubborn local working the waters but his reputation preceeds him.

WES WILLIAMS as Tom
A part of the local police force and best friend to Mae. Protective and practical, Tom is someone carrying his own shadows. His presence grounds the procedural side of the show and deepens the moral ambiguity. Tom wants to protect Mae from whatever the truthmight be.

RYAN GRIFFITH as Vaughn
Vaughn is Mae’s fisheries partner and one of her closest allies. Competent and steady on the surface that steadiness becomes unnerving once cracks appear in his loyalties
The Slack premieres February 4 on Bell Fibe TV 1 and the Bell Fibe app.
