New Orange Crosswalks Honour Truth And Reconciliation

Drivers and pedestrians in uptown Saint John will notice two new orange crosswalks.

The crosswalks were installed Friday on King’s Square South and at the bottom of Chipman Hill.

The city said the crosswalks are a “symbolic gesture” as part of its path toward Truth and Reconciliation.

Seven feathers in the crosswalks represent the Seven Grandfather Teachings recognized by many Indigenous communities in Canada.

The teachings are love, respect, courage, honesty, humility, truth, and wisdom.
