New Scam In Saint John

City Police are warning about another phone scam after a person living on Varsity Avenue got a call by someone claiming to be from Canadian Immigration Services.

The caller accused the person of financially supporting terrorist activity and unless a fine of $21 hundred was paid, an arrest would be made.

Sergeant Chuck Breen says it didn’t end there because there was a second call from someone claiming to be from a policing agency in the province who made the same threat.

The person thenf emailed the money to the address provided but Breen says it turned out to be a scam and if you ever receive such a call from someone claioming to be from a policing agency, hang up then call police at 648-3333.
