Tory MP for Fundy Royal Rob Moore made a stop at the YMCA in SAint John earlier today n to announce changes to the Universal Childcare Benefit as well as the new Family Tax Cut, which his party claims will make life more affordable for New Brunswick families of all incomes.
Moore tells CHSJ News parents will receive a benefit of $160 per month for year kid under 6. A new Family Tax Cut would also allow a person to transfer up to $50,000 of taxable income to a spouse in a lower income bracket.
Meanwhile, the Broadbent Institute has slammed the income splitting scheme for capping benefits at $2,000–and they say half of families with children under the age of 18 will get no benefit whatsoever.
