It’s a big, colourful testament to a vision that never came to pass.
The largely empty parking garage at Peel Plaza was built by the previous common council when there was a second refinery and an Irving headquarters at Long Wharf in the works. But now, Mayor Mel Norton tells CHSJ News the Parking Commission has their work cut out for them.
The Mayor says they’re diligently working on ways to get peopel using the garage, which is an area rife with free illegal parking lots and other, potentially cheaper parking options.
The Mayor says the parking commission will have the full support of council when it comes to figuring out how to get people parking there–whether it’s a grand opening, special rate promotions or some other strategy
