No New COVID-19 Cases Tuesday

There are no new cases of COVID-19 being reported in New Brunswick for the first time since December.

Nine additional recoveries were announced today, and the province’s active case total dropped to 75.

That’s the lowest active case number since January 5.

New Brunswick saw a huge uptick in COVID-19 cases following the Christmas holiday, and nearly 60 per cent of the province’s 1,424 total cases have been reported since January 1.

In a release issued Tuesday afternoon, the chief medical officer of health said despite our recent successes, it’s important for New Brunswickers to remain vigilant.

“If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, get tested,” Dr. Jennifer Russell said. “Don’t assume it is a cold or allergies. Don’t take chances with your health or the health of your family, friends and community.”

There have been 26 deaths due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began, 17 of which were reported since the new year.

Currently, two New Brunswickers are in hospital battling the virus, one of whom is in the intensive care unit.

All regions of the province remain in the orange level of pandemic recovery.
