Talking composting, recycling and garbage and its future costs.
That was the subject at the Regional Services Commission as they decide on which Waste Diversion option to choose.
Executive Director Jack Keir tells us the RSC wanted a third look at the options so he did another analysis.
Keir says the Crane Mountain landfill spends anywhere from 5 to 8 million dollars on capital costs so they established a committee to make sure the programs in place are the right ones.
The Waste Diversion committee worked on it for a year using a consultant to help them examine options, solutions and costs.
Option 1 is the status quo and Option 3 is the curbside recycling and composting at your door. Keir told the RSC he would not recommend option 2 because it has no solution for an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and odour.
The Fundy Regional Service Commission may vote on it at their next meeting in October.
