Norovirus Shuts Down Camp Glenburn Again

120 kids are heading home from Camp Glenburn in a deja vu everyone was hoping they wouldn’t experience again.

An outbreak of norovirus has been devastating for the YMCA camp on the Belleisle River that has been around for a very long time and until now never experienced a health crisis like this.

Saint John Y President and CEO Shilo Boucher tells us after two bouts of this illness, reports came of more campers getting sick so they have called public health again and all campers have to be sent home.

“I think we all agree that this is the same virus and it’s just really contagious. We worked with them and decided it was best to close the camp down and sterilize it one more time.” Boucher says.

Boucher says they will close camp this week and possibly next week and re-evaluate later on the last two remaining weeks.
