Novel Approach To Bike Rentals Could Take Off In SJ

Owning and storing a bike can be a slight hassle if you don’t use it all the time – but what about easy to use kiosks where you could rent a bike, lock and helmet using your smartphone, and even grab a hot drink when you’re done?

That idea could be coming to Saint John as early as the spring. Stephen Williams of VNB Enterprises pitched the idea of GoBike to common council. It would include numerous kiosks at various points throughout the city, tracking chips to make sure the bikes don’t get stolen, and CCTV monitoring against vandalism at the kiosks.

If the idea gets approved, VNB could start building the kiosks as early as this spring.
