A university in Nova Scotia has suspended 13 senior dentistry students.
Dalhousie University in Halifax announced the move after sexist comments were made against women in the program through a Facebook group. It’s believed the comments were made by male students in the dentistry program.
A spokesperson for a women’s shelter in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia Jeanne Fay says the situation should not be taken lightly.
“Even if these particular men might not do that, they are feeding into a very negative, harmful and dangerous cultural social situation for women,”
Fay believes the accused should be expelled. The university has been under intense pressure to penalize the students after numerous groups and professors filed complaints.
