One Person Unaccounted For After Early Morning Fire

City fire crews spent several hours this morning coping with a stubborn blaze at an apartment building on St. James Street West.

One person is said to be unaccounted for.

Heavy fire was reported and fire fighters, at one point, were ordered to get out of the building because of concern for their safety.

Five people have been left homeless.

Fire crews in the K-V were called out to Rafferty Court in Quispamsis after a chimney fire extended into the roof of a home.

The fire was contained to one room and the roof above it but the home sustained significant smoke damage.

No one was injured but one person was trying to put out the fire but had to be taken from the building by police because of the worsening conditions.

There was also a garage fire on Lila Court in Quispamsis which was put out Saturday night without spreading to the nearby home.
