Ontario Carbon Tax Fight Hits The Supreme Court

The Ontario government is going to the Supreme Court of Canada over the federal carbon tax.

It has filed an appeal to the high court after the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled the carbon tax is legal under the constitution.

Canada’s highest court is being asked to rule whether the feds have the legal right under the constitution to impose such a tax on residents.

Ontario’s environment minister says the tax violates the constitution since it allows the federal government to infringe provincial territory.

Premier Doug Ford has always insisted the Trudeau government has no right to interfere in what he believes to be in the province’s domain.
