Overnight watermain shutdown planned for Forest Hills in Saint John

Saint John Water is preparing for an overnight watermain shutdown that will affect hundreds of homes in Forest Hills.

Starting at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing until 9 a.m. Saturday, crews will replace a key section of the watermain along McAllister Drive.

The city says it’s part of a larger infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving long-term service reliability.

Roughly 800 properties will lose water during the work. Once service resumes, the Department of Health will issue a boil water order for the area.

Residents are advised to boil water for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth until the City confirms it’s safe to use again.

Saint John Water recommends storing enough water ahead of time to last through the outage and boil order.

Saint John Fire has been notified, as the shutdown will affect fire hydrants in the area.

Saint John Water will deliver notices to businesses, schools, churches and other facilities, and is asking the public to help share the information with anyone who may not have received it.
