Parents Circulating Petition Over School Busing

Another controversy is brewing with schools…….This time over busing with a Facebook page “Bring Back Our Buses” and a petition is being circulated over the new policy that stipulates students who live within 1.5 kilometers of their school have to walk. The parents who are affected say they were not given sufficient notice.

Nicole Bardeau is the mother of a 7 year old boy in Quispamsis who lives 1.3 kilometers from his school. She says a major problem is when her son gets out of school at 1:30 in the afternoon because he can’t be bused to his private sitter, only to a licensed caregiver.

Bardeau charges, in order to get to school, the safety of young children is being jeopardised because they’re expected to walk along Hampton Road which is the busiest street in Quispamsis, was impassable at times last winter after all the snow we had and tells us she has been told by police it isn’t safe for young children.

She adds other children have to cross train tracks to get to school.
