A PC MLA says its time to refit the ferry haul-out located at Kars near Evandale and create jobs doing maintenance and repairs on the vessels.
Bill Oliver of Kings Centre says because the ferries have become larger we have had to send the boats to Nova Scotia or elsewhere for service, he says that is wrong considering we have done our own ferry servicing in the past, and this would create 25 to 30 jobs.
Oliver says if the nine ferries were set up on a maintenance and servicing schedule it would mean 7 or 8 months of employment a year, which would be good for the economy especially in the Kings County area.
