The provincial government is continuing to dismantle the 104 year old Hammond River Covered Bridge on French Village Road.
It was was knocked out of commission last October and there has been much opposition to its upcoming demise.
PC Leader Blaine Higgs says a company that builds wooden bridges such as these, around the world has approached the government with a plan that would save it a lot of money.

Higgs is concerned this could be the beginning of the end of covered bridges in New Brunswick.
Higgs says the government is saying they will not tear it down, they will put one beside it but Higgs so nothing ever happens with the old one.
He calls that an excuse to delay fixing the covered bridge.
Hampton MLA Gary Crossman says his constituents just want to be able to cross te river again and he also questions why the government wouldn’t go for the six week route for less money.
A petition is circulating to save the bridge for more information, click here
