Pedestrian killed after train collision in Moncton

One person has died after being struck by a train in downtown Moncton, according to RCMP.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Victoria and Robinson streets around 6:10 a.m. Monday.

Sgt. Stéfane Paré-Lemire told our newsroom that the victim died at the scene from their injuries.

Several streets in the area were shut down as a result of the collision, RCMP said in a social media post.

They include Victoria Street between Lutz and Church streets and Robinson Street from Queen to St. George streets.

Also closed were the intersections of Church and Lutz streets and St. George and Church streets.

RCMP said all streets were reopened shortly after 1 p.m., according to a social media post.
