Pedestrian seriously injured in hit and run: RCMP

One person suffered serious injuries in what the RCMP are describing as a hit and run in St. Stephen.

Police said they received a call about a pedestrian being struck by a pickup truck around 7 p.m. Sunday.

The collision happened near Route 740 and Hayman Avenue, also known as the Four Corners intersection.

“A male with a beard would have exited the truck and approached the victim before leaving the scene,” police said in a news release on Monday.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with what police said were believed to be serious injuries.

RCMP are looking for a black or dark-coloured half-ton pickup truck, unknown make and model.

They are asking residents of Route 740 and Hayman Avenue to check their security systems for a vehicle matching that description between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Stephen RCMP at 506-466-7030 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
