PEI follows NS with reciprocal trade legislation

Prince Edward Island is following Nova Scotia’s lead on trade legislation.

PEI Premier Rob Lantz introduced an Interprovincial Trade bill, eliminating barriers for free trade with other participating jurisdictions.

They expect Nova Scotia to be the first reciprocating province, as they introduced similar legislation earlier this year.

In a joint-release, N.S Premier Tim Houston commends Lantz for acting quickly, adding that free trade in Canada is the right thing to do.

The provinces say this will make trade easier and create more opportunities for local businesses to expand across provincial borders.
